Best Training was established in 2000 as a family run business with father and son as Directors working out of a single Office in Parkstone, Poole with 4 staff and IT application training being the main focus.

Over the years the business has grown and developed and now has centres in 3 locations within Dorset and Hampshire, over 35 members of staff and a large base of freelance trainers.

The training and services have grown to include Information Advice and Guidance (IAG) Skills for Life (Adult Literacy & Numeracy), Business & Management training, NVQ’s, Apprenticeships, Soft Skills as well as training in Microsoft Office, Sage Accounts and other applications. We now offer a variety of qualifications and much of our training can take advantage of government funding. training.

Current Position

Best Training has now become the largest Learndirect provider in Dorset and also delivers the Nextstep IAG service to over 3000 individuals every year. We have been Matrix accredited since 2006 and hold a Matrix Excellence Award. We also deliver a broad spectrum of training, both funded and unfunded, to a wide variety of corporate clients and individuals but a main focus in recent years has been the development of our services to the unemployed and those under notice of redundancy. Our previous success as prime provider for the Response to Redundancy programme in Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch has recently led to our being awarded two new contracts for the whole of Dorset: Skills Support for the Unemployed and Skills Support for Redundancy. By combining the expertise of our corporate department, which delivers IT and managerial training to many large companies across the South West as well as within our own immediate area, with our knowledge of the local and county-wide labour market, we are able to provide a tailored employment service to both individuals as well as to companies faced with making redundancies as a result of the downturn in the national economy.

We work with partner organisations and many local companies to deliver funded training and pre-employment programmes utilising a number of different funding streams. We have established an excellent reputation with Job Centre Plus and work closely with them in the delivery of our programmes.

The Future

In our 12th year, we are increasing our pre-employment work with new partners, local business and individuals to help individuals without training and qualifications to either improve their job prospects or assist them back into employment.

An area of development this year is to extend our free recruitment and out-placement service, building on the experience gained through our recent successes, to include job broking and a truly personal employment service for both companies and individuals alike.
